How to Edit the Automated Customer Birthday Email
By default, PinkSuccess birthday emails include a 20% off birthday offer during your customer's birthday month. If you'd like to customize the email, you can create your own copy of the birthday email template and update your automation to use it. Here is how to do that.
Video Tutorial: This video goes over editing both the email and text message automation.
Step 1: Open the Shared Birthday Email Template
Click Communications (speech bubble icon).
Select Email > Templates.
Click Shared With Me.
Open the Customers folder.
Open the Birthdays folder.
Click Customer Birthday.
Step 2: Copy the Template
The shared PinkSuccess templates cannot be edited directly.
Click Copy Email Template into Your Personal Templates.
Click Copy.
A personal copy of the template will open.
Step 3: Rename Your Template
Click Edit Template Details.
Replace Copy in the template title with your name, for example, Customer Birthday (Shawn).
If desired, update the email subject line.
Click Save Template Details.
Tip: Including your name in the template title makes it much easier to locate when updating your automation.
Step 4: Customize the Email
Edit the email however you'd like.
Some common changes include:
Updating the birthday discount
Offering a different promotion
Changing the call-to-action
Personalizing the wording
When you're finished, click Save, or choose Save & Preview to preview the email before saving.
Finally, click Save & Return to Email Templates.
Step 5: Update Your Birthday Email Automation
Creating a new template does not automatically update your automation.
Go to Contacts > Contact Lists.
Search for PS Customer.
Click View Automations.
Click the Edit (pencil) icon beside Customer Birthday Email.
Click to Choose Email Template.
Select the template that includes your name.
Click Save Automation.
Tip: If you just created the template, it will usually appear near the top of the template list.
Your birthday email automation will now send your customized email.
